Because of the advanced API connection between NextPatient and your practice management / EHR software, many practices find they rarely have the need to log in. However, in the event you have staff work in NextPatient regularly, this article can help them get acquainted with the Today's Patients menu.

When you log in to NextPatient, clicking Today's Patients show you the patients scheduled for today. You'll notice:

  • the times patients are scheduled for
  • their appointment status
  • their name as a hyperlink
  • the provider they are scheduled for
  • if a survey has been sent (blanks are in the example because no surveys have been queued or sent)

Clicking the hyperlinked name of the patient in the example above takes you to the screen below. In this screen, you can see a couple of things from the NextPatient booking that you couldn't see in the daily sheet.

  • Their contact details
  • Their Sex and DOB
  • Reminders they are receiving
  • Interface details (this section won't mean much to you, but can be helpful to provide the NextPatient team during advanced troubleshooting)
  • The appointment status and the option to update it
  • The text messaging list and the audit history.

In the example above, you'll notice that no text messages are available and that it shows the patient did not approve texting. This might disable some of your practice settings because of the patient's preferences.

In another patient booking example, you will see how the screen is different because the patient approved text messages and the menu is available.

The option to Offer better times by text was used in the example above and you can see it was sent at 3:53 PM. If the patient were to respond to this message, a notification would appear both in the texting menu and in the browser tab, show below.

If you access the text messaging screen, you can have the option to have a text conversation with the patient in coordinating scheduling logistics.
